Gun Control for Javon Belcher?
Gun Control for Javon Belcher?
The news has been spreading the story of Javon Belcher, the
linebacker for the Kansas City, Chiefs who shot and killed his girlfriend and
babymama, Kassandra Perkins. After he committed this act of murder he proceeded
to the Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, where he found his coach and general
manager thanked them for their support of him and committed suicide. Now, their
three-month old beautiful daughter is without a mom and dad and the media is
crying gun control. EXCUSE me but I believe there is more to this story than
just gun control. As an NFL player he was allowed to purchase firearms just as
any other law-biding citizen. Friends of Kassandra said the couple often
visited the gun ranches for recreational fun. While they had arguments just
like any other couple many are baffled as to why these two acts occurred. But,
to push gun control as the sub-line I feel the issue has morphed into a new
playing field for others to harp on a different tune. Using this tragedy for
political gain rather than awareness into deeper issues that should be addressed
is how society gets off track. Speaking of gun control now is in my opinion
simply too late. The main focus should have been their daughter. What is she to
do? So young, she is and left without the two most important role models in a
child’s life. Whether it be determined that he suffers from head injuries as
his profession consistently endures or that he was mentally ill, or even if
Kassandra’s club appearance sparked this tragedy the concern still should lie
with the child who has been left behind. I’ll say it NOW, THANK GOD, he sparred
her. So often times the children are also caught in these webs of murder but
this too should be examined. He did NOT harm his child. So, now what programs
are available for her in Kansas City? Will she still be afforded the opportunities
of a successful life with these two individuals replaced back into the earth?
YES, it’s possible but it’s going to take more than a platform about gun
control and brain injuries to keep this yes at a YES! What support groups will
be available when she is old enough to comprehend this act of violence? Who
will stand with her and fight for her to understand that she is still loved no
matter what has happened because true love comes from within yourself and
through God. I pray for her heart, her understanding and her faith in God to
grow as she does. No one should have to endure such struggles but this is LIFE
and we made it this way! Now what are we going to do to begin fixing it. The
generations beneath us will guide this world so we MUST begin training up our children
in the way that they must go and pray they NEVER depart from it. Will you
stand? I am already standing! I am SAVVY By You Inc., Sophisticated, Ambitious,
