Cooking Shrimp & Grits with Jaya
Cooking Shrimp & Grits with Jaya
As you probably could have guessed, the Shrimp & Grits recipe reigns from the south. It's a traditional favorite to South Carolina & Georgia. It's just not enjoyed at breakfast but can be devoured for lunch & dinner as well. We hail from North Carolina, and I can tell you while we may didn't cook Shrimp & Grits we often had Grits, Liver-mush & Eggs. (Stay tuned for our LIVE show on this favorite in January). That's an ALL time favorite. But, I guess we didn't cook Shrimp & Grits because we just aren't big seafood eaters. However, when we tried this dish for the first time, celebrating life in DisneyWorld it turned out amazing. Jaya turned the Royal 6, and as a lover of grits since 2 months old she couldn't get enough. Join Jaya Saturday Dec. 5th 8am PT 11am ET and learn how to cook or perfect this taste explosive entree.
You know, as a parent I feel it's my duty to teach my girls the importance of learning how to cook and not just throw something together. I'm talking about finding a deep passion and love behind the season, every whip, and splash. Teaching them easy and simple recipes became my mission. Now, it's Jaya's mission to put to work what she has learned by helping you learn with her. She knows that the more she does the task, the better she can remember how to complete it. I have to keep in mind none of us are promised here from day-to-day. Preparing these girls to be self sufficient is a top priority that we enhance daily. We encourage you to join us in the Kitchen and let's whip up some love together, cooking this warm, fulfilling dish, Shrimp & Grits. Here's what you will need:
Equipment:
A non-stick pot
Big serving spoon
Ingredients:
Grits
Shrimp
Butter
Milk
Cheese
Tomatoes
Chicken Broth
Green peppers
Seasons of your preference such as cajun season & garlic.
Bacon(Optional)
People always ask, "IF I have leftovers of Shrimp & Grits how can I revive them"? Simple, put them into a bowl and add a splash of water or milk and warm them up in the microwave giving it a good stir once it's warm. Ohhh... using Heavy Whipping Cream is also a good splash to add too. You can also use this dish to freeze as well. Before you freeze just be sure it's cooled down, ziplock it or put it into a dish & cover with aluminum foil. Did you know you can even fry grits? Don't take our word for it, google it.
See you NEXT Saturday!
