Did you know that pecan pies is an American creation but the Native Americans grew and sold them? The word pecan originated from the French but they got it from Alognquian which means nut. The cool thing about it is as soon as people had pecans they used them for baking. The pecan pie's  popularity exploded when the product Karo syrup started putting their pecan pie recipe on the back of each bottle and still do till this day. Pecan pies is actually a thanksgiving dessert I just think they fit more during Christmas time. But, why Thanksgiving because the harvesting for pecans start late September and goes on till November which makes it perfect timing. So why don't you buy you some Karo syrup, a pie crust or make your own and don’t forget your pecans, eggs, sugar, vanilla extract and thats all you need!!!
